BuddyPress Community Taking Shape

As expected, their have been a lot of people developing components and plugins for the newly released BuddyPress. For those of you who don’t know, BuddyPress is a social community plugin for WordPress MU. I have implemented the plugin at Explore With Me, my latest online project.

While BuddyPress is still in beta, it has not stopped eager fans from creating plugins to make it even better than it already is. There has been a BuddyPress development website created that showcases the latest plugins. The website is located at www.buddypressdev.org

Some of the current BuddyPress plugins available are:

Community Blogs: This is a BuddyPress plugin that allows a Blog or Site Admin to turn a normal blog into a Community Blog or a Group Blog.
Invite Friends: Invite friends from messenger, gmail, facebook, etc. Currently it works only with messenger contact importation.
Twitter To Wire: This plugin will allow your twits to be automatically added to your Buddy Press wire.

There are a few plugins that are currently in development that should be due out sometime in the next week or so.

BPDEV-FLICKR: Allows users to display their Flickr photos on their profile.
BPDEV-YOUTUBE: Allows users to show YouTube videos on their profile.

This work just goes to show what a great WordPress/BuddyPress community there is out there. Between all of the websites dedicated to WordPress, WordPress MU, BuddyPress, themes, plugins, etc etc there are endless combinations that make every single WordPress blog unique.
