July NameSeek Stats

// August 3rd, 2008 // No Comments » // Projects

July was an interesting month for NameSeek. Hits have continued to build on June and there were a lot of very nice high quality domain names added to the listings.

There have been a few sites that have been launched in competition with NameSeek, however this has not seemed to had any effect on hits for the month. If anything hits have improved.

Traffic

There were less unique visitors to the site in July, however the number of visits improved as did the number of page views.

Traffic still is mostly coming from Australia, with about 90% of all hits – which is a good thing as the site is directed at an Australian audience. The rest of the traffic is made up by users visiting from the USA, UK and Asia.

Over 65% of all hits were from direct type-ins or bookmarks, with only 3% coming from search engines and the rest from referrers. Top referrers were Australian broadband based forum Whirlpool and Australian Webmaster. The remainder of referrers were mostly Domain Name based websites such as Domain Informer, Domain News, DNForum.com and DNTrade.com.au.

Site Stats

Domain name listings on the site increase by over 100% in July, which most of them being good quality names that should fetch some good prices.

The number of users registered on the site doubled, with all of them listing domain names for sale.

There are currently a handful of bids, however we are still yet to report our first sale. I am a little disappointed that NameSeek is still yet to complete any sales. I removed any commission charges half way through the month, however while the number of listings increase, there were no interested buyers. Hopefully this will change in the coming month.

Revenue

Now that listings and sales are 100% free of any charges, except adding a domain to the “Showcase”, I have to concentrate a lot more on my advertising programs and affiliate marketing.

I am currently running a few ads on the site, however these are yet to convert into any sales. I clearly have to do a complete overhaul of the advertising programs ont he site and will be doing so in the coming weeks. This will be the only stream of income from the site so it has to be effective.

The ads are getting clicks, however no one is buying anything from the websites they are clicking. The ads on the site at the moment, apart from Google, are sales based, though I am going to look at CPC advertising.

So all up it wasn’t a bad month for NameSeek. While the site is still not making any money, nor has it had any sales, hits remain strong and it is continuing to grow.

I think a lot has to do with the .AU domain name market still being in its early stages. Once the market picks up, so will NameSeek. Until then I think I am going to have to ride it out and not be too discouraged.

In August I will concentrate on promoting the site in the search engines as only 3% of all hits came from search engines, and also look at the advertising programs on the site. I am also planning a refresh of the design of the site which may help improve things a little.

Record Month for danielfelice.com

// July 31st, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Project Blogger

It has been a record month for danielfelice.com! My hits improved by over 100% and revenue grew by about 361% on last month. Hits have been constantly on the rise over the past month, rising day by day.

Revenue is improving, and although a 361% increase sounds like a lot, it still really doesn’t equate to much in terms of dollars. But that’s not the point – the point is that the blog is growing at a fantastic rate and our users are continuing to return.

Traffic

Looking at the statistics for the month of July, traffic is increasing on a weekly basis. Each week this month was an improvement on the previous one and although there are some dips in the daily traffic, on average each day was an improvement.

Traffic seems to be coming from a number of sources, including a few domainer based websites that are also associated with NameSeek. DNtrade.com.au and AUDomaining.com were the two best performing referrers and Google, StumbleUpon and Entrecard were the best of the rest. Referrers made up about 60% of the months traffic with the remaining 40% from search engines and direct hits through type-ins.

Top Posts

Top performing posts this month were “Patience Is The Key” and “Blog Mastermind” with the all time top performing being “How I made $2.99 in 3 Months“.

This seems to tell me that people want to know more about “Project Blogger” and my success and failures as I attempt to make revenue on the internet. I will listen and focus more of my efforts into this next month.

Revenue

A great month in terms of revenue. A massive increase on last month and it is good to see finally. Although dollars were not huge, it was still an increase and very encouraging.

The biggest money maker this month was my affiliate marketing with a massive (!) $13.50 which made up the majority of the total for the month.

Overall it was a good month for danielfelice.com. I still have a lot of work to do if I want start making the big bucks, but after a few months at it the results and encouraging and are giving me the drive to continue.

Hopefully August continues to show signs of improvement and growth. I am not making any predictions, but I would like revenue to improve by at least 100% and hits to keep on doubling.

I am on holidays for the first 5 days in August for my big 25th birthday which is ont he 2nd, so I will try to post as much as I can, but probably won’t be able to every day.

July Mid Month Update

// July 13th, 2008 // No Comments » // Making Money

We are nearly half way through the month of July, so I thought it would be a good time to asses how my attempts at making money online are going for this month.

Based on danielfelice.com, this month has started strong. Hits are up by about 130%, and revenue so far is already way beyond what I made last month.

Method June July
Affiliates $0.00 $13.50
Google Adsense $3.03 $1.34
Kontera $0.01 $0.00
Bidvertiser $1.64 -
Total $4.68 $14.84

I have not changed that much so far this month. I am still using MarketLeverage and Commission Monster as my two main affiliate networks, as well as adding Domaining Manifesto and Blog Mastermind over the past week.

I have stopped using Bidvertiser as my main PPC provider, which I replaced with Google Adsense half way through June. Google Adsense hits have been fairly good in July, but is on track to be about the same as June if things don’t pick up for the remaining half of July.

I have not been happy with the quality of ads from both MarketLeverage and Commission Monster lately, so I am on the look out for a new network. The problem with MarketLeverage is that most of the top performing ads are restricted to an American audience, where as the Commission Monster ads are mostly aimed at an Australian audience. Hits are about 50/50 between users from Australia and the USA, so I need to advertise products and services that cater for a wider audience. I will continue to use Commission Monster for Nameseek as 98% of the audience are Australian.

I find that ads showcasing products based around blogging and domaining are bringing in the most hits, so if there is a product that I use and am willing to support, then I will look for an affiliate program related to it and blog about it to promote it. I am not into recommending products and services that I have not tried – and I would not recommend something I have not and am not using.

Hopefully things will continue to improve over the remainder of the month, and a few more affiliate sales won’t hurt. Hits are constantly on the rise, which is great to see – I must be doing something right!
